Through this blog, “Living in His Purpose”, I will share my journey as a Christian with you. Perhaps, you’re a “newborn Christian” and you’re unsure of what your next steps in your walk will be? Or you are in need of encouragement?
Overall, my goal is to share God’s Truth with you and encourage you in your walk with Jesus.
Becoming a Christian and my passion for Jesus…..
Raised as a Catholic, I believed in God; but I didn’t live as God intended me to live – a Holy Life (1 Thess 4:7). I didn’t give spiritual growth any thought. My sister and I attended Sunday school, and we learned a few Bible stories, did our First Communion, and attended mass on Sundays. However, I was left longing for more and I couldn’t pinpoint it.
After moving out of the city, God led me to a Baptist church in my current town. One that will always be my “home church” as it was the first place where I experienced spiritual growth and Baptism. The feeling I had when I first walked in will always be with me – familial and loving. Exactly what a “family-in-Christ” should be!
It was a time (2010) of many life changes when I decided to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9) thus becoming a “newborn Christian” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This occurs when we repent of our sins (Luke 24:47) and vow to follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24). Our sins are forgiven (Acts 3:19-20) and He wipes our slate clean.
During this difficult time, I first recognized my need for a relationship with Christ.
About a year ago, God led me to a Pentecostal church – that was His doing, not mine! Never thought I would form part of this denomination. My plan was to raise my son (at the Baptist church) where I worshiped, and my husband was in agreement. He even considered visiting the church with our son and me! But God’s plans were not my plans and I have to respect that. While many, including myself, don’t understand the reason for this move; we need to obey God. It is difficult to understand the “whys” of God’s plan, but we have to move forward in faith.
As Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
I hope that this blog will serve as a medium through which we can encourage each other in our walks with Christ.
Of utmost importance is that we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
To God be the glory!
